Animus Mortis/Testimonia/Godz Ov War Productions/Third Eye Temple/2016 12 Inch Re-Issue Review

mercredi 20 avril 2016 à 02:53

Animus  Mortis  have  returned  with  a  recording t hat  continues  the  cold,  desolate  and  atmospheric  black  metal  sound  of  previous  recordings  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Testimonia"  which  was  re-issued  in  2016  as  a  joint  effort  between  Godz  Ov  War  Productions  and  third  Eye  Temple.

Atmospheric  drones  start off  the  album  and  after  a  few  seconds  the  music  starts  going  into  more  of  a  heavy,  dark  and  melodic  musical  direction  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  once  the  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  kick  in  the  music  starts  bringing in  more  of  a  raw  black  metal  feeling.

Vocals  are  start  out  in  more  of  a  melodic  direction  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  very  melodic  and  add  a  touch  of  melodic  and  atmospheric  post  black  metal  onto  the  recording  while  clean  guitars  are  also  added  into  some  songs  and  when  the  vocals  get  more  aggressive  they  are  mostly  grim  yet  depressive  screams  that  also  have  a  very  deep  tone  to  them and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  that  are  almost  ritualistic  and  later  tracks  also  bring  in  an  avant  garde  feeling  and  a  couple  of  tracks  are  long  and  epic  in  length.

Animus  Mortis  creates  another  black  metal  recording t hat  is  very  modern  while  also  being  very  atmospheric  and  adding  in  a  touch  of  post  black  metal  while  the  music  does  also  retain  the  raw, dark  and  heavy  style  of  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  desolation  and  misanthropy  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Animus  Mortis  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric,  cold  and  desolate  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Seven  Decress"  "Testimonia"  and  "Vibrations  From  the  Immaterial".  8  out  of  10.

Even thou this album is different in a way from its predecessors, still has that Nazghor ingredients that is necessary for a record of this band. We are very satisfied with the final product

3. In 3 years you have put out 5 albums, do you put a great amount of time and effort into the band?
