Grimwald  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  black  metal  with  elements  of  dark  ambient  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  album  "Lux  Perit  In  Tenebris"  which  was  released  by  Vacula  Productions.

  Horror  movie  style  keyboards  start  off  the  album  before going  into  more  of  a  heavier  direction  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  gives  the  music  a  more  raw  feeling  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams.

  A  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sounding  very  powerful  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  clean  singing  along  with  ambient  elements  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  done  in  a  very  raw  and  melodic  style  and  some  songs  also  add  in  a  good  amount  of  acoustic  guitars and  there  is  also  an  instrumental  track  before  closing  the  album  with  a  vocal  song.

  IOn  this recording Grimwald  plays  a  style  of black  metal  that  is  very  dark,  raw,  melodic  and  traditional  sounding  while  the ambient  elements  and  acoustic  guitars  makes  the  music  stand  out  a  bit  more,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark and  depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another great  sounding  recording  from  Grimwald  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  metal   with  elements  of  dark  ambient  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Die  Forever"  "Suicide  Is  Not  A  Crime"  and  "Ashes  And  Black  Soil".  8  out  of  10.  

  Molphar  are  a  band  from  Ukraine  that  plays  a  pagan  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is a  review  of their  2017 album  "Ice  Kingdom"  which  was  released  by  Vacula  Productions.

  Drum  beats  along  with  some  powerful  sounding  bass  guitars  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  direction  which  also  introduces  melodic  guitar  leads  onto  the  recording  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  the  vocals  bring  in  a  mixture  of  death  metal growls  and  black  metal  screams.

  Most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  along  with  some  tremolo  picking  which  also  gives  the  songs  a  more  raw  feeling  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion  while  some  songs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  acoustic  guitars  along  a  brief  use  of  whispered  vocals  and  you  can  also  hear  a  great  amount  of  90's  European  black  metal  influences  throughout the  recording  but  done  with  a  more  modern  fashion.

  Molphar  plays  a  style  of  pagan  black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  melodic and  epic  sounding  while also  mixing  in  a  good  amount  of  death  metal  influences,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Norse/Slavic  Paganism,  Heathen  Wrath  and  Romantism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Molphar  are  a  very  great  sounding  pagan  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Destiny  Of  Warrior"  "Wild  Hunt"  and  "Immortality".  8  out  of  10.

  Arkhon  Infaustus  are  a  band  from  France t hat  has  an  album  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  bestial  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  album  "Passing  The  Nekromanteion"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Les  Acteurs  de l'Ombre  Productions.

  Dark  yet  melodic  riffing  starts   off  the  album  while  also  being  very  heavy  at  the  same  time  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  after  awhile  death  metal  growls  as  well  as some  ritualistic  chanting  starts  to  make  their  presence  known  and  psychedelic  touches  are  also  used  briefly.

  All  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  tormented  black  metal  screams  are  also  utilized  at  times  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  riffing  also  mixes  in  a  decent  amount  of  dissonant  structures,  when  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  fashion  and  they  close  the  album  with  an  instrumental.

  On  this  recording  Arkhon  Infaustus  remain  true  to  a  satanic  and  occult  style  of  black/death  metal  that  was  established  on  previous  releases  while  also  updating  their  sound  for  a  more  modern  era  as  well  as displaying  a  great  amount  of  progress  and  skill  as  musicians,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism  and  Left  hand  Path  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great sounding  recording  from  Arkhon  Infaustus  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Precipice  Where  Souls  Wither"  and  "Corrupted  Epignosis".  8  out  of  10.  

  Snakebearer  are  a  solo  project  from  Finland  and  plays  a  musical  style  he  describes  as  being  'blackened  pop  metal'  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2017  ep  "Throes".

  A  hard  rock  style  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  all  of  the  musical instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  after  awhile  grim  black  metal  screams  and  melodic  guitar  leads  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  the  music  also incorporates  a  great  amount  of  pop  elements  but  with  a  more  heavier  style.

  At  times  the  music  has  a  style  that  is  very  close  to  the  music  Tormentor  and  Sigh  where  doing  in  the  early  200's  without  sounding  like  any  of  the  bands  mentioned  along  with  some  touches  of  goth  rock  while  blast  beats  are  also  used  briefly  and  all  of the  songs  stick  to  a  mid  tempo  direction  and  acoustic  guitars a re  used  briefly  on  the  closing  track.

  Snakebearer  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  mostly  rooted  in  black  metal  while  also  mixing  in  elements  of  pop  and  rock  musical  to  crate  something  very  different,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Snakebearer  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  pop  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  looking  for  something  different,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED TRACK  "Churning  Of  The  Cosmic  Waters".  8  out  of  10.   

  Pando  are  a  band  from  Easthampton,  Massachusetts  that  plays  an  experimental  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2017  album "(in)human(e)".

  Gospel  style  singing  starts  off  the  album  before  adding  spoken  word  parts  and  dark  industrial  elements  onto  the  recording  while  also  mixing  in  touches  of  noise  music  at  times  and  after  awhile  harsh  black  metal  screams  start  to  make  their  presence  known  while  the music  is  very  experimental.

  When  acoustic  guitars  are  utilized  they  add  in  elements  of  neo-folk  while  the  music  also  gets  very  avant  garde  at  times  and  demonic  growls  are  also  added  into  certain sections  of  the  recording  and  when  heavy  guitars  are  added  into  the  music  they  bring  in  more  of  a  drone  and  doom  metal  feeling, atmospheric  synths  are  also  added  on  some  of  the  tracks  and  stringed  instruments  as  well  as  a  small  amount  of  harmonica's  are  also  used  briefly .

    As  the  album  progresses  clean  guitars  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  a  brief  use  of  blast  beats  and  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  when  tribal  drums  are  utilized  they  give  the  song  the  atmosphere  of  a voodoo  ritual  and  one  track  also  introduces  saxophones  onto  the  recording,  clean  singing  and  blues  style  slide  guitars  are  also  added  onto  a  track.

  Pando  plays  a  musical  style  that is  very rooted  in  black  metal  but  also  mixes  in  elements  of  experimental,  avant  garde,  noie,  country,  blues  and  folk  to  create  something  that  cant  be  categorized,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  while  the  lyrics  cover  African  American  slavery  and  the  injustices  they  have  faced  in  past  times..

  In  my  opinion  Pando  are  a  very  great  sounding  experimental  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  looking for  something  original  or  different,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "State  Schooled"  ""Van  11"  "Caveman"  and  "This  Fucking  World  Will  Never  Change".  8  out  of  10.
