Necrolytic  Goat  Converter  are  a  solo  project  from  New  York  that  a depressive  form  of  black  metal  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2017  album  "Isolated  Evolution"  which  will  be  released  in  August.

  Distorted  yet  melodic  riffing  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  some  beats  and  powerful  sounding  bass  guitars  a  few  seconds  later  and  after  awhile  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  start  to  make  their  presence  known  and  the  guitar  leads  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  a  more  raw black  metal  feeling  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  one  track  also  adds  in  folk  instruments  and  elements  of  Asian  music.

  Some  of  the  songs  also  mix  in  modern  Norwegian  influences  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  singing  while  a  later  song  adds  in  acoustic  guitars,  psychedelic  elements  and  70's  classic  rock  style  guitar  leads  and  the  tracks  also  bring  in a  great  amount  of  diversity.

  Necrolytic  Goat  Converter  plays  a  style  of  depressive  black  metal  that  is  very  different  than  most  bands  of  this  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  religion  and depression  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Necrolytic  Goat  Converter  are  a  very  great  sounding  depressive  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Isolated  Evolution"  "Seraphim"  and  "The  Calamity  Of  Not  Knowing".  8  out  of  10.

  Kval  are  a  solo  project  from  Finland  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  form  of black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  titled  2015  album  which  was  originally released as the album title ''Kuolonkuu'' when the musical project was still known as Khaossos and the re-issue version will be released  on  July  28th  by  Hypnotic  Dirge  Records.

  Nature  orientated  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  ambient  style  synths  a  few  seconds  later  and  after  the  intro  the  music  goes  into  more  of  a  heavier  direction  along  with  some  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.

  Most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  music also  incorporates  a  decent  amount  of  melodic  yet  atmospheric  guitar  leads  while  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  a  couple  of  the  tracks  being  all  instrumental  and  all  of  the  songs  stick  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  paced  musical  direction.

  Kval  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  dark  while  also  being  very  atmospheric  at  times  and  also  avoids  the  more  faster  aspects  of  the  genre  to  create  some  long  epic  tracks,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  nature  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Kval  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sokeus"  and  "Kuolonkuu".  8  out  of  10.    

  Helvetestromb  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  black  metal  with elements  of thrash  and  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  album  "Demonic  Excrement's  Cursed  With  Life"  which  will  be  released  on  July  28th  by  WormHoleDeath  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and blast  beats  while t he  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  screams  and  the  music  also  incorporates  a  great  amount  of  punk  and  d  beat  elements  along  with  the  music  being  heavily  rooted  in  the  second  wave  tradition.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  thrash  influences  while  the  riffs  also  use  a  decent  amount of  melody  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  remain  true  to  a  very  old  school  extreme  metal  style  and  all  of  the musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  at  times  the  vocals  start  utilizing  more  of  a  crust  style  and  spoken  word  parts  are  also  used  briefly  and  the  music  always  remains  very  heavy  and  raw.

  Helvetestromb  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  while  also  mixing  in  elements  of  punk  and  thrash  to  create  a  very  heavy  recording,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Anti  Christian  and  Violent  themes,

  In  my  opinion  Helvetestromb  are  a  very  great sounding  raw  black  metal  band  with  elements  of  punk  and  thrash  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Restless  Satan"  "The  Demon  Bell"  "Bog  Of  Eternal  Stench"  and  "Morningstar:  Whore  Crusher".  8  out  of  10.

    

  Crafteon  are  a  band  from  Denver,  Colorado  that  plays  a  musical  style  they  describe  as  being  'bardic  black  metal' and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2017  album  "Cosmic  Reawakening"  which  will  be  released  in  August.

  Dark  soundscapes  along  with  the  atmosphere  of  a  horror  movie  starts  off t he  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast,  raw  and  melodic  direction  which  also  uses  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion  along  with  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  mid  90's  era  Swedish  influences  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  growls  can  also  be  heard  briefly

  As  the  album  progresses  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  brings  in  a  small  amount  of  acoustic  guitars  and  at  times  the  vocals  also  bring  in  a  semi  melodic  tone  while  one  song  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.


  Crafteon  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  modern  and  epic  in  the  mid  90's  Swedish  tradition,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  are  based  upon  the  writings  of  H.P  Lovecraft.

  In  my  opinion  Crafteon  are  a  very  great  sounding  Lovecraft  influenced  melodic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Outsider"  "Dagon"  and  "The  Whispers  In  Darkness".  8  out of  10.

  

  Poison  Blood  are  a  duo  from  the  United  States  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  metal,  punk  and  death  rock  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2017  ep  which  will  be  released  in  August  by  Relapse Records.

  Experimental  sounding  synths  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  heavy  riffing  a  few  seconds  later  and  after  awhile  drum beats  and  grim  black  metal  screams  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  after  awhile  melodic  guitar  leads  and  elements  of  post  punk  are  added  into  the  music.

  At times  the  music  adds  in  psychedelic  touches  and  the  music  also  adds  in  elements  of  post  punk  while  the  black  metal  side  is  more  rooted  in  the  90's  second  wave  style  along  with  the  tremolo  picking  also  giving  the  songs  a  more  raw  feeling  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  one  of  the  tracks  is  a  dungeon  synth  instrumental  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sounds  very  powerful .

  Poison  Blood  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  mostly  rooted  in  raw  black  metal  while  the  punk and  death  rock  elements  gives  the  songs  a  lot  more  originality,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Poison  Blood  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  raw  black  metal,  punk  and  death  rock  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should c heck  out  this  duo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE "Deformed  Lights"  "A  Cracked  And  Desolate Sky"  and  "Circles  Of  Salt".  8 out  of  10.
