France's  solo  project  Glorior Belli  has  returned  with  a  new  album  that  shows  him  returning  back  to  the  black  metal  style  of  previous  recordings  but  with  a  more  modern  take and  this  is a  review  of  his  2016  album  "Sundown  (The  Flock  That  Welcomes)"  which  will  be  released  in  June  by  Agonia  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  fast  and raw  black  metal  direction  that  also  introduces  blast  beats  and  grim  screams  onto  the  recording  as  well  as  some  guitar  leads  and  the  riffs  and  solos  also  utilize  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  while  also  having  its  melodic  moments.

  Glorior  Belli  goes  back  to  the  more  straght  forward  black  metal  style  of  his  earlier  material  but  done  with  a  better  recording  budget  and  technology  that  was  not  available  back  then  while  also  bringing  in  an  avant  garde  touch,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Luciferian,  Occultism,  and  Darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Glorior  Belli  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "World  So  Spurious"  "Satanists  Out  Of  Cosmic  Jail"  and  "We  Whose  Glory  Was  Despised".  8  out  of  10.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  goes  for  mostly  a  more  straight  forward  approach  to  black  metal  while  also  sounding  very  modern  at  the  same  time along  with  some  catchy  riffing  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  one  song  goes  back  to  the  more  Americanized  style  of t he  last  2  albums  alo0ng  with  some  avant  garde  elements  while  the  main  focus  remains  more  on  the  blackened  side  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  melodic  chanting. 

  ThrOes  are  an  international  band  with  members  from  Australia,  United  Kingdom  and  the  united  States  that  plays  a  dissident  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "This  Viper  Room"  which  will  be  released  in  June  by  Aesthetic  Death.

  Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  album  and  after  awhile  clean  guitars  and whispered  vocals  are  added  onto  the  recording  which  start  evolving  into  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  guitars  getting  heavier  while  still  also  using  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Elements  of  black'n'roll  can  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout t he  recording  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  very  distorted  and  melodic  sounding  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  growls and  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  as  the  album  progresses  clean  playing  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of the  recording.

  At  times  the  vocals  can  also  get  very  depressive  and  one  track  also  adds  ebow's  onto  the  recording  while  all  of  the  songs  stick  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  paced  musical  direction  while  speeding  up  briefly  on  one  tracks  and  bringing  in  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  and  you  can  also  hear  a  touch  of  80's  post  punk  in  the  bands  musical style  and  some  songs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  back  up  vocals.  

  ThrOes  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  very  heavily rooted  in  the  modern  styles  of  black  metal  while  also  adding  in  a  touch  of  avant  garde  and  post  punk  to  create  something  very  original,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  philosophical  themes.

  In  my  opinion  ThrOes  are  a  very  great  sounding  dissident  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  looking  for  something  different  and  original,  you  should  check  out t his  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Shock  to  the  Guts"  "Nothing  Left  For  Vultures"  "This  Viper  Room"  and  "Feed  it".  8  out  of  10.

   

  Trautonist  are  a  duo  from  Germany  that  plays  a  mixture  of  post  black  metal  and  shoegaze  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2016  album  which  was  released  by  Wolves  &  Vibrancy  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  post  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  melodic  guitar  leads  being  introduced onto  the  recording  a  few  seconds  later  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  vocals  start  out  being  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  some  of  the  songs  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  while  clean  singing  female  vocals  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  songs  and  element s of  shoegaze  can  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts  and  some  of  the  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  and  when  synths  are utilized  they  give  the  songs  more  of  an  atmospheric  and  ambient  feeling.

  Trautonist  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  melodic  and  atmospheric  while  mixing  in  a  great  amount  of  post  rock and  shoegaze  elements  to  create  a  musical  style  that  is  closer  to  post  black  metal  or  blackgaze,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  melancholic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Trautonist  are  a  very  great  sounding  post  black  metal/blackgaze  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out t his  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fragile"  and  "Downgaze".  8  out  of  10.   

  Some  Happy  Thoughts  are  a  duo from  Montreal,  Quebec,  Canada  that  plays a  very  raw  and  depressive  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2016  demo  "Epitaphe".

  Natural  sounding  noises  start  off  the  demo  and  after  a  few  seconds  clean  playing  and  mournful  cries  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  after  a  couple  of  minutes  drum  beats  are  added  into  the  music  and  on  the  second  track t he  music  goes  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction t hat  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.

  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  while  the  riffs  use  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  melodies  can  also  be  hear d in  the  music  at  times  while  clean  playing  also  makes  a  return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts  and  the  last  2  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  melodic  guitar  leads  and  acoustic  guitars  are  also  added  on  the  last  song.

  Some  Happy  Thoughts  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  depressive  while  also  having  its  melodic  moments,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  French  and  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Some  Happy  Thoughts  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  depressive  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Espoir"  and  "Enfin".  8  out  of  10. 

  Infernal  Diatribe  are  a  band  from  India  that  plays  a  very  spiritual  and  occult  form  of  black  metal  with  some  death  metal  touches  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  ep  "Videha  Mukti"  which  will  be  released  in June  by  transcending  Obscurity  Distribution.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  and  when  the  music  speeds  up a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  giving  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  vocals  are  very  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  riffs and  bring  in  a  Swedish  influence  to  the  bands  musical  style.

  Clean  playing  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  stick  to  a  very  melodic  musical  direction  and  some  of  the  fast  riffs  also bring  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on t he  recording  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  some  death  metal  influences  along  with  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Infernal  Diatribe  plays  a  style  of  occult  black  metal t hat  is  very  raw  and  melodic  while  also  adding  in  a  slight  touch  of death  metal  to  create  a  style  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  yet  powerful  at  the  same  time  while  the  lyrics  cover the  left  hand  path  and  the  Aghori  path  of  Moksha.

  In  my  opinion  Infernal  Diatribe  are  a  very  great  sounding spiritual,  occult  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out t his  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Demonic  Gasping  Mortal  Nightmare(Wisdom)"  and  "Morbidd  Evocation".  8  out  of  10.
