Morth Interview

mercredi 16 décembre 2015 à 18:10

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?
MORTH is a one-man Atmospheric Black Metal band now. It was found in 2002 in Bulgaria and on the first demo entitled "Ocean Underground" the style is melodic,
dark metal.

2.So far you have released a demo and a full length, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on both of the recordings and also how do they
differ from each other?
The demo is just an old recording and the release of it is with the purpose to mark the MORTH's history. The album "Towards the Endless Path" is in fact the first
release of the band with an official status, talking about a musical direction.

3.While the demo was recorded in 2003, there was no new material for 12 years, can you tell us a little bit more about what was going on during that time period?
During that long time MORTH was simply abandoned by me as a band and I had no desire to work on it. I was bussy playing in other bands and projects like
FORGOTTEN FORESTS, EXILE, CALTH, RAGGRADARH, AEONLESS...

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you explore with your music?
The lyrics in our album are about the nature, legends about battles and warriors, shadows living in the world and the feel of their immortality.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Morth'?
I chosed the name MORTH because sounds like a combination between Morte (Death) and North. I think it souds dark and epic and at the time I chosed this name,
there wasen't a band named MORTH in the world.

6.With this project you record everything by yourself but have worked with musicians in other bands and projects, do you feel working solo gives you more room to
be creative with your music?
I think working solo gives you the best possible way to release your own ideas and vision to the highest level and the outcome is your own musical expression shown in the most accurate way. But working bad also gives a lot when it comes to different ideas. Either way this is not really important because what's important is the music and the way it sounds, writing a good songs.

7.The new album was released on Acclaim Records, can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
It was released by Acclaim Records and Symbol of Domination productions from Belarus. Acclaim Records is a musical label found in 2004 in Bulgaria. For many years, 2010-2015 the label was not active and now it's back with this brand new release. Currently the label is based in the USA. Fans can visit the label's website: http://AcclaimRecords.com , except for our releases listed, news and webshop, you can find also band pages with information and music samples.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
It's mostly positive. I hope more fans of the Atmospheric Black Metal to discover the music of MORTH.

9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that you are a part of?
Many of them are not active, but some could be in future. This is the good about the underground music and scene. Everything is unpredictable and the music is real. Mainstreem artists have plans, contracts and other things which are turning them into working people and the music they make is deeply affected by the label's policy. That's why I am listening only to underground bands.

10.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician in the future?
I can't really tell for sure where I could be in near or far future but one thing is for sure - I am going to be on a place that I belong and keep creating the music I like.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
As I said I am listening to underground bands mostly and nowadays I am listening to a lots of Atmopsheric, Ambient, Post-Black Metal... There are so many interesting band and projects out there and people can discover their music, which is great. Many musicians from a mainstreem bands are complaining of not having enough people on shows or that the fans don't listen to metal and things like that. The truth is that many people simply prefer to discover a new band and listen to music they like, instead to go on a show and listen to same songs, some of them becoming boring after listening them 2-3 times.

12.Does Satanism, Occultism or Paganism play any role in your music?
In MORTH nothing of this plays any role really. The music here is more of a soundscape than trying to preach some sort of a teaching or cult.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

I think that overall the underground music is on a great level nowadays, keep supporting real music and real bands!

Hatevomit Interview

mercredi 16 décembre 2015 à 18:06
1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

- Hails, actually we're working on new materials for our upcoming records. Our latest Ep Necrovomit is released in tape format and also we'll have a split with Ectoplasma from Greece..

2.In July you had released a new ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ  from the stuff you have released in the past?

- To be honest it was more quality recording stuff than we did in our basement for that EP. And first demo it had recorded with a drum machine after Revolt joined us and he played in our split and in that ep,and real drummer made our songs more stronger in better quality. Also our friend Ersin who is good with sound engineering stuff ,he helped us for mix and mastering... I think we are playing still dirty, raw metal of death with more better sound.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

Our lyrics are about our anti religious act, hatred, anti islam, of course! ! !  Our demonic rage against religious morons,...Maybe next records will be more concept about more demonologic and occult stories but I still try to think and create it in my mind ,still in progress!

4.The band refers to it's musical style as 'Vomit Metal', can you tell us a little bit more about this term?

Vomit Metal is a concept name of our band in which are related to our hatred against to all organized religions, trend acts and trendy scumbags.

5.The band members are from Turkey and Cyprus, how does this work with the recording process?

It's  really hard thing to do international band keep alive, Revolt living in Cyrpus we are in Istanbul. Actually it's really hard to do...

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the label 'Underground Resistance'?
URR is Unholy Terrorist's own label,he started URR  to release our stuff but now , it is growing day by day.

7.I have read that one of the band member also has a zine of his own, what are some of the genres that you cover?

Actually i have an webzine is called Extreminal.com  and i released 2 issues printed zine which is called Total Death  with UNT,we both still writing for some local printed zines too. As i talking about myself. it 's my big hobby make my life still alive. Almost 13 years had been done for it. Our main genre is of course extreme metal but UNT is interested in Punk&Crust also..

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and death metal?
Majority of 'em gave us nice words and points with their reviews. Some jerks gave us low points but i don't know why ,if i checked their other reviews, most of them reviewed bands like melodic, atmospheric etc.,why did they review us and gave bad points if you have no clue about what he-she listens..Anyway. Fuck 'em . Local support is still little but growing... Our main aim is to keep underground flame alive til die. Our fan base  is like our hatred..

9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

Actually i have only Hatevomit, but UNT has own projects Baphomilitia/Rape,maybe we'll create new band which made crust/punk but not sure yet... Main aim is about rising HATEVOMIT in underground scene...

10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

I hope we gonna do a full-length album in 2016 but it's really hard for us because we are two man band now again,so we need to find a good drummer who is dedicated to band .If Revolt is with us for full length,it would be more healthy but we will talk with him.. in near future we'll record a few new songs for split works.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

A webzine owner I am ,so I listen majority of all new records which is related in extreme metal music. Hatevomit's musical identity related to black/death metal,we are influenced bands like Beherit,Archgoat,Celtic Frost,Blasphemy etc. from the past ,Pseudogod,Teitanblood etc. from the newer bands...

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

This is a nice interview,thanks... We are not dealt with much on web world and not  much gave interviews... Anyway,Support Vomit Metal ,buy or trade our shits! ! !

Five The Hierophant/Self Titled/Witching Hour Productions/2015 EP Review

mercredi 16 décembre 2015 à 05:18

Five  The  Hierophant  are  a  band  from  the  United  Kingdom  that plays  an  instrumental  mixture  of  post  black  metal,  doom  drone,  ambient, psychedelia,  and  jazz  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  ep  which  was  released  by  Witching  Hour  Productions.

Drum  beats  and  spoken  word  parts  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  reverb's  before  adding in  heavy  guitars  which  are  very  heavily  influenced  by  doom  and  atmospheric  black  metal  and  saxophones  which  also  add  elements  of  free  form  jazz  to  the  bands  musical  style  and  none  of  the  tracks  ever  use  any  singing  or  screaming.

Drones  can  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  songs  while  some  riffs  add  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful sound  to them  and  you  can  also  hear  a  touch  of  psychedelia  and  ambient  in  the  bands  musical  style  and  all  of  the  songs  remain  true  to  a  very  slow  musical  direction.

Five  The  Hierophant  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  post  black  metal  and  doom  and  mixes  it  with  a  touch  of  drone,  ambient  and  fee  form  jazz  as  well  as  using  spoken  word  parts  instead  of  vocals  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  and  the  production  also  sounds  very  powerful.

In  my  opinion  Five  The  Hierophant  are  a  very  great  sounding  instrumental  mixture  of  post  black  metal,  doom  drone,  ambient, psychedelia,  and  jazz  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Witches  tale"  and  "The  Hierophant".  8  out  of  10.

Batushka/Litourgiya/Witching Hour Productions/205 CD Review

mercredi 16 décembre 2015 à 04:04

Batushka  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  and  this is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Litourgiya"  which  was  released  by  Witching  Hour  Productions.

Folk  instruments  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  melodic  guitar  leads  and  clean  singing  chanting  vocals  a  few  seconds  later  that  also  takes  the  music  into  a  very  dark  and  heavy  doom  metal  direction  that  also  utilizes  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  after  awhile  the  music  speeds  up  at  times  and  also  brings  in  black  metal screams.

When t he  music  speeds  up  it  brings  in  more  of  a  raw  style  of  black  metal  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  you  can  also  hear  a  touch  of  post  metal  in  the  bands  musical  style  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

At  times  the  music  also  sounds  very  ritualistic  and  occult  and  they  also  mix  in  a  great  amount  of  avant  garde  elements  throughout the  recording  while  some  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  and  one  of  the  tracks  is  long  and  epic  in  length  and  there  is  also  a  great  amount  of  diversity  to  be  heard  throughout  the  recording.

Batushka  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black  and  doom  metal  and  mixes  it  in  with  Slavonic  Old  Church  chants  to create  a  musical  style  of t heir  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Polish  and  cover  blasphemous  themes.

In  my opinion  Batushka  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Yekteniya  2"  "5"  and  "7'.  8  out  of  10.

Solus/Vrag/Awakening Of ThE Hungarian Witch Woods/Fekete Terror productions/Neverheard Distro/2015 Cassette Re-Issue Review

mardi 15 décembre 2015 à 23:33

This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Hungary's  Solus  and  Vrag  called  "Awakening  Of  the  Hungarian  Witch  Woods"  which  was  originally  released  in  2013  and  re-issued  in  2015  as  a  joint  effort  between  Fekete  Terror  Productions  and  Neveheard  Distro  and  we  will  start  off  the  split with  Solus  a  solo  project  that  has  had  some  of  his  music  reviewed  before  by  this  zine  and plays an ambient  form  of  black  metal.

His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  and  atmospheric  ambient  sound  that  is  done  by  synths  and  starts  mixing  in  with  more  of  a  raw style  of  black  metal  that  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  grim  screams  and  all  of  his  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  all  of  the musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

Some  of  the  riffs  also  utilize  melodies  at  times  and  one  the  second  track  the  music  speeds  up  a  bit  and  also  brings  in  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  very  dark  and  melodic  sounding  along  with  one  of  the  tracks  bringing  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  and  their  is  also  a   cover  of  Marblelog's  "Uttalan  Utakon"  while  on  the  last  song he  teams  up  with  Vrag,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in Hungarian  and  cover  nature,  philosophy  and  death.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Solus  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  and  ambient  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Eltemetze"  and  "Velunk  Er  Veget".

Next  up  is Vrag  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal.

His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  nature  sounds  and  after  a  few  seconds  the  music  starts  adding  in  more  of  a  raw  yet  melodic  black  metal  sound  along with  some  solos  and  leads  that  also  use  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  you  can  also  hear  a  very  modern  atmospheric style  being  brought  into  the  song  structures.

When  vocals  are  brought  into  the  music  they  are  grim  black  metal  screams  and  both  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length and  also  remain  true  to  a  very  slow  musical  direction,  the  production  sounds  very  dark   and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Hungarian  and  cover  darkness,  nature  and  mysticism.

In  my  opinion  Vrag  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Avarlelek  1".

In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  to  all  fans  of  ambient  and  atmospheric  black metal.  8  out  of  10.
