Haunter  are  a  band  from  San  Antonio,  Texas  that  plays  a  dissonant  and  progressive  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "Disincarnate  Ails"  which  was  released  by  Profound  Lore  Records.

  Clean  playing  starts  off  the  album  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  progressive  feeling  as  well  as  returning  on  later  tracks  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  deep  death  metal  growls  while  all  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  while  the  music  also h as  its  dissonant  moments.  During  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  album  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  dark  sounding  melodies  also  being  added  into  the  guitar  riffing  at  times.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic,  chaotic  and  dissonant  style  as  well  as  the  songs  also  mixing  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  misanthropy,  esotericism  and  entropy  themes.

    In  my  opinion  Haunter  are  a  very  great  sounding  dissonant  and  progressive  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Spiritual  Illness".  8  out  of  10.

  Oerheks  are  a  solo  project  from  Belgium  that  plays  a  very  mid  tempo  and  synth  orientated  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "Cagghenvinna"  which  will  be  released  in  August  by  Amor  Fati  Productions. 

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  epic  sounding  synths  are  also  mixed  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  all  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  tracks.  The  songs  also  mix  in  a  decent  amount  of  old  school  influences  along  with  the  music  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments  as  well  as  some  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  also  being  utilized  when  the  album  finally  speeds  up  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling, clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  the  main  focus  is  more  on  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction.  

  Oerheks  plays  a  style  of  black  metal t hat  is  very  mid  tempo  and  synth  orientated.   The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Flemish  and  cover  ancient  times,  myths  and  lore.

  In  my  opinion  Oerheks  are  a  very  great  sounding   mid  tempo  and  synth  orientated  black  metal  solos  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Door  Doomen  Overtogen"  and  "Stilte,  Deel  een:  Een  Storm  der  Tijd".  8  out  of  10.

  Adaestuo  are  an  international  band  with  members  from  Belgium,  Finland,  Poland  and  the  united  States  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  experimental  form  of  ambient  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  ep  "Purge  Of  The  Night"  which  will b e  released  in  August  by  W.T.C  Productions.

  A  very  dark yet   heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  militant  industrial  style  drum beats  a  few  second  later.  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  along  with  the track  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and fast  parts,  dark  ambient  style  synths  can  also be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  as  well  as  a  couple  of  tracks  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  clear  male  and  female  vocals  and  the  music  also has  its  experimental  moments.

  On  this  recording  Adaesto  brings  in  more  of  an  experimental  and  ambient  style  of  black  metal  as  well  as  retaining  a  great  amount  of  raw  aggression.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  occultism  and  spiritual  praxis  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Adaetuo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  experimental  and  ambient  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Act  I"  and  "Act  II".  8 out  of  10.

  Mara  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  an  anti  cosmic  form  of  pagan  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "Loka  Mær"  which  was  released  by  Immortal  Frost  Productions.

  A  nature  orientated  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  ritualistic  style  drumming  and  chants  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats   and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Vocals  ar e mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  remaining  true  to  a  more  raw  style  when  they  are  utilized  as  well  as  having t heir  melodic  moments,  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  adds  in a   brief  use  of  clean  playing.

  Mara  plays  a  style  of  pagan  black  metal  that  is  more  raw  and  aggressive  than  most  bands  of  the  genre  as  well  as  leaning  more  towards  the  left  hand  path  side  of  paganism.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  Thursian  Sorcery,  Chaos  Gnosticism  and  Norse  Paganism  themes.

  Finland's  Mimorium  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  raw  and  melodic  style  of  occult  black  metal  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "The  Route  Of  Haeresis"  which  will  be  released  in  August  by  Spread  Evil.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  The  riffs  also add  in a  lot  of  melody  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  the  music  also  adding  in  the  rawness  of  the  Norwegian  style  and  the  melody  of  the  Swedish  style.

  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized  as  well  as  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  thunder  sounds  and  classical  guitars  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length,  clean  playing  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly..
