Lugburz Sleed Interview

mercredi 13 mars 2019 à 04:59
1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band these days?
- Hi,  Kaswarh here. Currently the group is in the format One Man Band. The concept has been changed to, what interests me (us).

2.Since 2006 you have released a good amount of material, how would you describe your musical progress over the years?
- We did not have a consensus on what the group should have been. We played and recorded what we were interested in at certain moments of life. In other words - the group is Tribute of my life and tells about who I am (we).

3.Your music covers a lot of ground with some of the material going into a depressive black metal direction  while some material brings in more of a space ambient style, do you feel you stand out among many other bands by experimenting with different styles and not recording the same type of style over and over again?
- Our style has always changed. From the moment of launch to the current moment. But there has always been an element of the black metal genre. Now everything is different. For me (us), this is new and I (we) like it.

4.From 2014 to 2018 there was no new music being released, can you tell us a little bit more about what was going on during that time span?
- War began on the territory of my (our) country. Guitarist [Karmaged] plunged into this war. It changed him and he lost interest in music. For this reason, the format of the group and concept have been changed at the current time.

5.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored over the years with your music?
- Nihilism and Solipsism. Depression. Hate. Endless Space...

6.Originally the band was called 'Enslate' what was the cause of the new change and also the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Lugburz Sleed'?
- Word 'lugburz' means Barad-dûr ("Dark Tower") - enormous fortress of the Sauron from J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth writings. Word 'sleed' means Ukrainian transliteration word "mark". Literal meaning is "The Mark of Barad-dûr". Although the band never performed songs with lyrics-themes of Tolkien's Middle-earth, the name is a tribute to the band Summoning (Epic/Atmospheric Black Metal) which is a landmark discovery in the life of a vocalist [Kaswarh]. Also - name is very difficult to pronounce in Slavic languages:).

7.Has the band had any opportunities to do live shows and if so, how would you describe your stage performance?
- The group has always been and remains a studio project.

8.Currently the band is signed to 'Distrokid' how would you compare working with this label to your old label 'Rigorism Productions'?
- "Rigorism Productions" is a great label that released us on CD. "DistroKid" is an independent digital music distribution service, thanks to him - we exist on all modern music-streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, YouTube Mucic and many others).

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
- Primary listeners are North and South America, Europe. I (we) was surprised that our music would climb that far.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
- Space Ambient and Berlin School (Krautrock). Mabye Space (Cosmic) Black Metal.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
- Greatly influenced: Burzum, Beherit, Gromm, Summoning. I really like it now: The Lost Sun (https://thelostsun.bandcamp.com/),  Bezmir (https://bezmir.bandcamp.com/), Imperceptum (https://imperceptum.bandcamp.com/) and ISON (https://ison444.bandcamp.com/).

12.What are some of your non musical interests?
- Astrophysics. I also keep an account in Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/spacesolipsism/ - i publish visual Images what's on my mind at the moment.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
- Thx, Erik! I am grateful for the interview. It is really rare for me to say a few words. AnKou/1984 - The Eyes Are Upon You Ft Tahazu/2019 Single Review

mercredi 13 mars 2019 à 02:59

France's  solo  project  has  returned  with  a  new  track  which  is  in  the  atmospheric  style  of  black metal  and  features  Tahazu  as  a  special quest  on  vocals  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2019  single  "!984  _  The  Eyes  Are  Upon  You".

Spoken  word,  war  and  movie  samples  start  off  the  track  before  adding  in  some  acoustic  guitars  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  deep  yet  depressive  black  metal  screams  that  also  get  very  high  pitched  at  times  while  the  riffs  also  use  a  decent  amount  of  melody.

The  music  sticks  to  mostly  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction  along  with  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  when  the  music  speeds  up  while  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  for  being  a  self  released  track  while  the  lyrics  are  based  upon  George  Orwell's  dystopian  novel  "1984'.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  track  from  AnKou  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  single.  8  out  of  10.

Necrolust Interview

mercredi 13 mars 2019 à 01:34
1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?
1- Hi, I introduce myself to the readers of your formidable zine, I am Radamantis the bassist of the band.
The band had a moment of pause because our old drummer for personal reasons decided to leave the band, we tried some new drummer but since he doesn't satisfy our musical criteria we later decided to continue in 2 with the drums then sampled new record was composed by me and The Hack on vocals and guitar.

2.So far this year you have released a new full length and ep, musically how do they both differ from the material you have released in the past?
2- The EP with the single Summon The Horned Goat preceded the full length Ancient Worship, the new album differs from the previous ones in that we have decided to enrich our violent sound with ambient elements to make that little bit of atmosphere dark and desperate among one song and the other. The goal was to build with the synths a tension support for the powerful riffs, creating really scary music. So the new album is different from the old works.

3.The band has split up on a couple of occasions, what was the cause of the splits and also the decision to reform?
3- From 2006 until now the band has undergone several training changes, this was due to the fact that we didn't find people really interested in creating bad and evil music. But since Hack and I have too much to care about black metal we have decided to carry on the Necrolust speech alone and compose the music that we like best without external influences.

4.Since 2017 the band has released a great amount of material, do you spend most of your time writing and creating new music?
4- The fact that we no longer have to stop to search and test new components has left more free time for the composition and recording of new songs and this has meant that from 2017 to now we have been able to create many musical compositions.

5.You cover a lot of satanic and luciferian themes with your music, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?
5- Hack and I have practiced the dark arts for a long time, alone or with other people. Occultism for a period was a constant in our daily activities, practices such as Ars Goetia or Luciferian paganism have subsequently inspired the writing of the lyrics of our songs

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
6- The cover of the new disc represents a follower of the black arts who is preparing to begin before the great ruined cross in a snowy forest. The ruined cross represents the bases on which our sick and hypocritical society is based and therefore reversing the society destroys itself and loses all certainty, the snow represents the candor and the cleanliness that our nature offers instead of our corrupt society, a nature but it can be fatal to the unconscious man created in the image and likeness of a capricious and fickle god, as is the man himself. The adept represents the one who rejects this society and therefore embraced by the black arts and by a dark and suggestive nature leaves behind everything that our unhealthy society based on false Catholic doctrine offers.

7.Has the band had any opportunities to do any live shows and if so, how would you describe your stage performance?
7- The band has not played live for a long time, from the days when we were a complete formation. Our old live performances were designed to offer the maximum atmosphere to the spectators, there were never any candles or fake fog, pig heads also fake due to the censorship that exists in the rooms of our country and continuous references to symbols and satanic themes in addition to our ever-present corpse paint.

8.In the last couple of years you have also been a part of a couple of splits, can you tell us a little bit more about the bands you have shared these recordings with?
8 - We made a split many years ago with Ener, one mand band inspired by the Burzum of northern Italy. Then with the Ancient Funeral, a now-dissolved Doom funeral band of our Sicily and a split with a Mexican band called Dark Hollow offering a really powerful and wild old school black metal.

9.Currently the band is signed to 'Art Inferna', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
9- The Art Infera Label is an independent label which we have helped to create myself and Hack. He set himself the goal of introducing the public to all the bands that play in an extreme and wicked way, far from the melodic and light-hearted canons of recent times, offering the public really bad and powerful music.

10.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
10- We have had a good international response in recent times, especially internationally. We know that no one is a prophet at home, but unexpectedly we had a good response abroad. I remember that at the exit of Awakening we were unexpectedly and pleasantly quoted on the True Norwegian Black Metal channel on the official twitter account and we reached new supporters beyond the Italian national borders. This disc has also reached the black hearts of European and American blacksters

11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
11 - Surely we will continue to compose more and more bad and distressing music, our goal is to achieve extreme and frightening sounds so we will always strive to achieve this goal.

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
12- The musical bands that have and continue to influence us are Mayhem, Marduk, Gorgoroth, Tjuder, Slayer, Dark Funeral, Darkthrone. They are certainly the black metal bands that we listen to most every day and inspire us.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
13- I conclude the interview by thanking you for the interview and all your formidable readers, we invite anyone who wants to listen to us to follow us on Facebook and to buy us on Bandcamp. Thank you.

Vargsheim/Sohne der Sonne/MDD Records/2019 CD Review

mercredi 13 mars 2019 à 01:04

Vargsheim  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  a  very  aggressive  form  of  black  metal  with  elements  of  rock  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "Sohne  der  Sonne"  which  will  be  released  on  March  22nd  by  MDD  Records.

A  very  hard  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  clean  playing  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  the  music  also  adds  in  a  touch  of  black'n'roll.

When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  one  track  also  introducing  a  brief  use  of  clean  vocals  into  the  music.

When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  bring  in  more  of  an  old  school  metal/rock  style  while  a  couple  of  the  songs  are  long  and  epic  in  length. As  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  as  well  as  both  the  riffs  and  leads  also  utilizing  a  decent  amount  of  melody,  one  track  is  also  all  instrumental.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while the lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  the  Overestimation  of  one'sown  capabilities,  self-awareness,  human  arrogance  and  the  ravages  of  time.

In  my  opinion  Vargsheim  are  a  very  great  sounding  black'n'roll  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Individuum"  "Staublunge"  "Athenas  Kuss"  and  "Vom  Horizont  gefallen".  8  out  of  10.

Deathwomb/Moonless Night Sacraments/Iron Bonehead Productions/2019 CD Review

mardi 12 mars 2019 à 04:04

Deathwomb  are  a  band  from  Spain  that  plays  a  bestial  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of their  2019  album  "Moonless Night  Sacraments"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Iron  Bonehead  Productions.

Ritualistic  spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  musical  direction. When  the  music  speeds up  it  brings  in  a  very  raw  war  metal  style  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  along  with  the  vocals  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  black  metal  screams.

Synths  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  solos  and  leads  are done  in  a  very  chaotic  style.

Elements  of  doom  metal  can  also be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  music  as  well  as  the  music  also being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  early  90's  styles  of  black  and  death  metal. All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.    The  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism  and  Left  hand  Path  themes.

In  my  opinion  Deathwomb  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  old  school  black  and  bestial  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Tablets  Of  Fire"  "The  Ancient  Serpent"  "Enochian  Keys"  and  "The  Cjhasm".  8/5out  of  10.
