Belgium's Sercati have returned with a new recording which continues their atmospheric and melodic style of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Devoted, Demons And Mavericks" which will be released on September 21st by WormHoleDeath Records.
A synth orientated intro starts off the album along with some heavy riffing a few seconds later while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic style as well as the vocals being mostly grim black metal screams and the synths also mix into the heavier sections of the music at times.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while melodic riffing is also utilized at times along with some whispers also being used briefly as well as one track also introducing female vocals onto the recording and as the album progresses classical guitars and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly, clean male vocals can also be heard on a later track and when the music finally speeds up blast beats are utilized for a few seconds.
Sercati creates another recording that remains true to the melodic and atmospheric style of black metal from t heir previous releases, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics continue the concept story of the archangel known as The Nightstalker.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Sercati and if you are a fan of atmospheric and melodic black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Shockwaves of The Countdown" "Dream Devourer" Before The battle"and "The Purgatory". 8 out of 10.
