Poland's  Furia  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  less  of  a  black  metal  direction  than  previous  releases  and  into  more  of  an  avant  garde  and  experimental  style  of  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "W  snialni"  which  was  released  by  Pagan  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  experimental  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  a  few  seconds  later  while  both  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  Psychedelic  sounds  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  briefly  as  well  as  some  filed  recordings  also  being  mixed  into  the  songs.

 All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  heavier  guitars  bring  an  influence  of  black  metal  into  the  music.  The  album  also  has  its  avant  garde  moments  along  with  some  evil  sounding  laughter  also  being  utilized  briefly  and  all  of  the  music  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction,  melodic  guitar  leads  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  towards  the  end  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard.

  On  this  album  Furia  moves  away  from  the  harsher  vocals  and  black  metal  elements  of  previous  releases  and  goes  into  more  of  an  avant  garde  experimental  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Polish  and  cover  depression,  misanthropy  and  hatred  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Furia  and  while  some  black  metal  fans  might  not  like  the  new  direction,  I  can  see  this  recording  appealing  more  to  fans  of  avant  garde  and  experimental  metal.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Wesele  w  snialni".  8  out  of  10.

  Aran  Angmar  are  an  international  band  with  members  from  Greece  and  the  Netherlands  that  plays  an  occult  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Black  Cosmic  Elements"  which  was  released  by  Time  Tombs  Productions. 

  A  very  dark,  heavy  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  tremolo  picking  also  giving  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  add  in  a  lot  of  melody.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  some  of  the  vocals  and  riffing  also  showing  an  influence  of  death  metal.  Classical  guitars  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  tracks  along  with  one  of  the  songs  also  introducing  spoken  word  parts  onto  the  album  as  well  as  one  of  the  songs  also  being  an  instrumental.

  Aran  Angmar  plays    a  style  of  occult  black  metal  that  is  very  melodic  sounding  as  well  as  mixing  in  elements  of  death  metal  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Ancient  Lore  and  Necromancy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Aran  Angmar  are  a  very  great  sounding  melodic  occult  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Into  the  Lawless  Abyss"  and  "Black  Cosmic  Elements".  8  out  of  10.

  Rampancy  are  a  solo  project  from  London,  Ontario,  Canada  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  anarchist  mixture  of  black,  death  metal,  grindcore  and  harsh  noise  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2021  album  "Coming  Insurrection".

  A  very  fast,  raw  and  lo-fi  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostyl  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  one  of  the  tracks  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  The  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  harsh  noises  and  power  electronics  also  being  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  riffing.

  Clean  playing  and  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  along  with  all  of  the  drum  beats  also  being  programmed.  Some  of  the  faster  riffing  also  mixes  in  elements  of  grindcore  as  well  as  some  of  the  riffing  also  showing  an  influence  of  death  metal,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  the  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Anarchism  and  Anti  Fascism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Rampancy  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  anarchist  mixture  of  black,  death  metal,  grindcore  and  harsh  noise  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "King  Of  The  Locusts"  "Perpetual  Revolution"  "Left  For  Dead"  and  "Wheel  of  Time".  8  out  of  10.

  Norway's  Einherjer  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  black'n'roll  orientated  style  of  Viking/black  metal  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "North  Star"  which  will  be  released  on  February  26th  by  Napalm  Records.

   A  very  hard  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  their  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  vocals  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  i n  a  very  old  school  metal/rock  style.

  Keyboards  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  music  while  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  The  songs  also  expand  on  the  black'n'roll  elements  that  have  been  been  a  huge  part  of  their  most  recent  recordings  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  on  the  later  tracks  also  adding  in  touches  of  their  classic  Viking  metal  style,  clean  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  most  of  the  music  sticks  to  more  of  a  mid  tempo  direction  as  well  as  having  its  atmospheric  moments.

  On  this  recording  Einherjer  goes  for  more  of  a  modern  black'n'roll  style  as  well  as  keeping  some  of  the  Viking  metal  elements  of  previous  recordings.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Norse  Mythology  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Einherjer  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Blood  And  The  Iron"  "Ascension"  and  "Chasing  The  Serpent".  8  out  of  10.

  Funeral  Fullmoon  are  a  solo  project  from  Chile  that  recently  had  music  reviewed  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw,  traditional  and  vampyric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2021  album  "Poetry  Of  The  Death  Poison"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Inferna  Profundus  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style.

  A  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  evil  sounding  melodies.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can  also  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  the  songs  add  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  on  the  closing  track  keyboards,  rain  and  thunder  sounds  can  also  be  heard  on  the  closing  track  which  is  also  an  instrumental.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  spiritism,  evil  and  vampirism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Funeral  Fullmoon  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of    raw,  traditional  and  vampyric  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Poetry  Of  The  Death  Poison"  and  "Nokturnal  Prayer".  8  out  of  10.
