Korgonthurus Interview

lundi 6 juin 2016 à 00:25
1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

Necron: After the recording, we have been mostly been updating and keeping up our live condition. Also composing new material.

2.In May you had released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

Necron:What we wanted for "Vuohen Siunaus" was a clear but still raw sound. How it differs from the earlier works is that it was recorded by mr. Lius. All the other releases were recorded by our drummer Kryth. Because of lack of time we decided to outsource the recordings to mr. Lius.

3.Can you tell us a little bit more about the lyrical topics and subjects you explore with your newer music?

Necron: Lyrics are made by Corvus. Topics vary from misanthropy to satanism. Always has, always will.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Korgunthurus'?

Necron: First of all, it is KORGONTHURUS ! To us Korgonthurus is a channel to express our satanic views.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Necron: We haven't done that much shows. One to remember is Under the Black Sun Festival in Germany. Surprisingly a lot of people came to see the show. Also our last show in Tampere, Finland was totally awesome experience.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?

Necron: None whatsoever

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your newer album by fans of black metal?

Necron: So far so good. Quite positive. What is the most important that we are satisfied with the end result, i personally couldn't care less what everyone else thinks about it.

8.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

Necron: Three of the members also play in Totalselfhatred and we ( TSH ) have been recording the third album for a quite a long time now. Also we have done several shows all around Europe. Kryth has been busy with his own projects during these months ,if i remember correctly MUSTA KAPPELI should release or has already released their latest album. Kryth is also involved with ANAL BLASPHEMY, so keep your eyes and ears open, 'cus they'll be releasing a new album.

9.The band started in 2000, do you feel black metal has changed for the better or the worse since then?

Necron: All a matter of opinion. How i feel is that there is too much hype on NSBM. Black metal is SATAN ! It has nothing to do with political views or any related. But back into your question, i wouldn't say that it has gone worse, it is good that the flame is kept alive but still there is too many bands that should not exist.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Necron: Hard to say. We do what we want. We don't like to limit our music.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Necron: There isn't any specific musical styles where we get our influences. Influence can come from anything basically. I personally listen to all kinds of music, boring to limit yourself into something specific. But my roots are in Black Metal. I guess i'm getting old since almost everything what i listen is recorded in the nineties and i get the kicks from it. Not that many bands has made an impact on me.

12.How would you describe your views on Satanism?

Necron: For me this is a very personal thing. I don't want to share my views on that matter.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Necron: Thank you for the interview. Listen to the "Vuohen Siunaus", love it or hate it.

lundi 6 juin 2016 à 00:08

This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Italy's  Malauriu  and  Circle  Of  The  Last  Promontory  called  "Media  Vit  In  Morte Sumus"  which  was  released  by  Land  Of  Fog  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Malauriu  a  band  that h as  been  featured  before  in this  zine  and   plays  a  very raw  form  of  black  metal.

Their  side of the  split  starts  out  with  spoken  word  parts  and  traces  of  classical music  and  after  the  intro  the  music  starts  going  into  more  a  heavier  musical  direction  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  it  brings  in  a  great  amount  of tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  that  also  takes  the  music  into more  of  a  raw  and  old  school  black  metal  direction.

Vocals a re  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams  while  some  of  the  riffing  brings  in a  small  amount  of  melody  while  the  music is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  last  track  brings  in  a  small  amount  of  death  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  and  human  misery  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording from  Malauriu  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of r aw  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Malauriu"  and  "Deus  Mortuorum".  8  out  of 10.

Next  up  is  Circle  Of  The  Last  Promontory  a  solo  project  that  plays  an  ambient  form  of  black  metal.

His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  distorted guitar  sound  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  and  grim  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  the  music  at  times   and  when  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  and  atmospheric  style.

When  synths  are  utilized  they  bring  in  elements  of  ambient  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  long  and  epic  in  length  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  all  of  the  songs  stick  either  to  a  slow  or  mid  paced  musical  direction  while  also  speeding  up  briefly  and  bringing  in  a  brief  use  of  blast  beats  and tremolo  picking  that  also  gives  the  music  more  of a  raw  black  metal  feeling,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes.

In  my  opinion  Circle  Of  The  Last  Promontory  are  a  very  great  sounding  ambient  black  metal  solo project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Rainy  Solstice"  and  "Free  And  Indipendent".

In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I would  recommend  it  to all  fans  of  raw  and  ambient  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Deeper Vileness/Daemonolatria/Cvlminis/2016 Full Length Review

jeudi 2 juin 2016 à 05:06

Deeper  Vileness  are  a  band  from  Texas  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  musical  style  that  they  refer  to  as  'necro  dungeon'  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Daemonolatria  which  was  released  by  Cvlminis.

A  very  dark  and  ritualistic  synth  starts  off  the  album  and  after  a  couple  of  minutes  the  music  gets  heavier  and  goes  into  more  of  a  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction w hich  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  as  well  as  introducing  grim  yet  high  pitched  screams  onto  the  recording.

Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  ritualistic  elements  are  a  very  huge  part  of  the  songs  that  they  are  utilized  on  along  with  the  synths  also  bringing  in traces  of  ambient  music  along  with  a  couple  of  tracks  being  dungeon  synth  instrumental  while  the  music  is  still  mostly  rooted  in  the  second  wave  style  of  black  metal  and  a  later  song  also  introduces  clean  guitars  briefly  before returning  back  to  a  heavier  style.

Deeper  Vileness  creates  a  recording   that  takes  the  raw  and  necro  black  metal  style  of  the  previous  recording  and  expands  on  it  by  making  the  music  more  ritualistic  and  adding  in  elements  of  ambient  and  dungeon  synth  to  create  something  very  original,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Darkness,  Occultism  and  Left  Hand  Path  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Deeper  Vileness  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  necro  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sacrifice  Upon  The  Altar  Of  Infernal  Mysteries"  "Death's  Embrace"  and  "Shrieks  From  the  Dungeon".  8  out  of  10.
