Golgota/Industrial Thoughts/2015 EP Review

jeudi 11 février 2016 à 21:43

Golgota  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a very  raw  and  melodic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2015  ep  "Industrial  Thoughts".

Nature  sounds  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  tribal  beats  a  few  seconds  alter  that  leads  to  more  of  a  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction  that  uses  a  great  amount  of  high  pitched  screams  and  blast  beats  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  second  wave  style.

When  melodic  guitar  riffs  and  leads  are  utilized  they  bring  in  an  early  90's  atmospheric  doom/death  metal  feeling  and  deep growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times  which  also  adds  an  influence  of  death  metal  onto  the  recording  and  the  vocals  also  bring  in  a  very  great  atmosphere  at  times  and  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  songs and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on the  recording  an d there  is  also  a  brief use  of  melodic  vocals.

Golgota  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  old school  while  also  being  very  melodic at  the  same  time,  the  production  has  a  very  heavy  yet  raw  sound  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  nature  themes.

In  my  opinion  Golgota  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  melodic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Flood"  and  "Forest  Of  Grief".  8  out  of 10.

Natvre's Interview

jeudi 11 février 2016 à 19:46
1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Over a decade now we explore heavy music.Over a decade now we waste time, money and spiritual creativity to projects that always left us with the feeling of incompleteness. On the Fall of 2014 we decide To create A MONSTER.Free from all the dogmatic logic of any scene,of any expectations and illusions, we attacked the dark mother of inspiration with all our senses. And she gave us NATVRE'S

2.In December you had released your first album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

Well in December we just upload the album on bandcamp unofficially. The official release was on 26th of January via Clean head productions. We create the album rehearsing on a cold basement with almost no Light. We believe that this claustrophobic and cold energy was injected in the very soul of the songs,So the job in the recording studio was easy.We used no fancy equipment and no editing .The raw and psychotic power of the sound was tamed by our great Engineer and good friend Stelios"stelth"Koslidis.
3.Your lyrics cover Obcure Philosophies and paganism, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in these topics?

First of all i must say that the lyrics have the same importance with the music.  Obscure Philosophies and paganism are just the surface. they are the tools.a dark approach to the multi levels of the universe.we are two lyricists in the band with different approach but with  the same expression hunger. When the universe has something to tells us, words are escaping from our mouths and those words are becoming lyrics. Then the unique shelf of each song selects the right words to tell it story

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Natvre's?

Natvre's, or with the conventional grammar Nature's stands for all the creations and the characteristics on this planet. She creates, she destroys.Light and darkness. As a band we are trying to "translate"  her dark and destructive force into sounds.Nature's wrath

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

No live rituals yet. who ever is interesting to book us this is the way

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

Yes absolutely,a European tour is our first goal. We want to spread our music as far as it's possible and we believe that the band actually "is a band" when it's hitting a stage.

7.The album was released on 'Clean head productions', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

Clean head productions is a kind of distro, supporting underground bands and promoting their music. Actually they work with grind and death metal bands, but when they heard us they believed on us and took the decision to support us with worldwide distribution.Althought it is a co-production so it is not something that binds us with any contract . They do very good job in the underground scene sending cd's everywhere.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?

It is very soon to tell something about the level of response but the first signs seem promising.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Our will is to enter normally in the black metal scene, to work hard and promote well our job , be focused to our plans and inspire people.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

We are three different individuals, we listen almost same bands and same style of music. For Natvre's we believe that Norway inject too much poison in our veins' but Norwegian black metal isn't necessary the one and only influence. As musicians we listen to big variety of extreme sound. Nowadays we work so hard with our project so we are listening to Natvre's .

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

We are very different characters although we have the same passion for music, we know each other for very long time so we are close friends but we have different interests . From reading political and philosophical books to climbing and drifting in mountains

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

First of all thank you very much for the interview and secondly we challenge all the readers to listen to Natvre's wrath.

Temple Of Evil Interview

jeudi 11 février 2016 à 19:41
1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
1) The Temple has been built during the mid-2008 by Arkhon Sakrificer and Angelwhore so as to express our personal thoughts and perceptions embodied with music. This vision of ours has been enhanced following the last year’s additions of Apethantos and Nekrocurse to the Temple and it is fully captured on the debut album ‘’The 7th Awakening’’.

2.How would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
2) The musical sound that is presented on the album can be described as an obscure manifestation of our personal feelings and esoteric thoughts. The music must embrace the lyrics equally and the listener is allowed to express their own interpretation and to make them think by opening different dimensions and giving a different perception on anything either that could be the environment they are engaged to or their inner spirits.

3.The band has been around since 2008 but waited until the end of 2015 and early 16, can you tell us a little bit more about the long wait?
3) The Temple has been struggling quite often with internal issues between its members because all previous members didn't share exactly the same vision as we did thus we had several line-up changes but we finally managed to find the right persons to embrace our unorthodox manifesto. Regarding the gap between the years of 2008-2015, however, the band was performing live and constantly worked on its own material.

4.Your lyrics go very deep into the Occult, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?
4) We wouldn’t say that the lyrics are going that deep into the occult. Actually the lyrics come from esoteric thoughts following their incarnations on various subjects. In the personal perspective of each member we believe in spiritual freedom. The lyrics, actually, talk about a lot of topics. The core meaning is that you have to be free and do what you want to do without following blindly the distractions of any organizations such as religion.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Temple Of Evil'?
5) The name was actually suggested by a close person of ours. He was present during the very beginning of the Temple and the name came after the listening of some demo-versions of the songs. The name describes our personal spiritual Temple in which we act as preachers of our vision.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
6) The best live performance so far was without a doubt last December as we performed our debut album in its entirety and we had finally managed to present the quintessence of this Temple live. In our live performances you get what you hear on the album; An atmospheric experience so that you can drown in the dark mist of our personal ritual.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
7) Some shows have been already booked such as the Funeral Worship Festival and Power of the Night Festival which are both local fests and we have some other plans in mind but it’s too soon to mention any of these.

8.The album was released on 'Deathhammer Records', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
8) Deathhammer Records was formed recently, in 2014, with the aim to release and promote unholy and unadulterated music. ‘The 7th Awakening’ was its 4th release [DHR004] and its first on CD as the previous were all on vinyl. It is a label to check out for sure and keep an eye on their upcoming releases. We have had a great collaboration with the label and we are very pleased to work with Deathhammer Records as we have received all the support that we needed in the process of releasing this album.

9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to yuor music by fans of black metal?
9) The feedback was really overwhelming and very encouraging. It is truly an honor to be able to witness that your music has that kind of impact on the listeners and we are certainly glad and appreciate the fact that the followers of this Temple embraced our vision.

10.The band is from Cyprus, are there any other bands that you would recommend from your home country?
10) Well, the Cyprus Metal scene is growing bigger and bigger over the years and we are glad to observe that there’s a constant fire in this scene. There a lot of bands to check out so if anyone is interested in this scene they have to discover those bands by themselves.

11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
11) Being realistic, we don’t know what the future will bring to us; we are focusing on the present to become better, write more music and continue our vision.

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music?
12) The influences and inspiration come from anything we are able to experience. Regarding the musical influences it is quite obvious that we are highly influenced by the black metal scene in general.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
13) We’d like to express our appreciation towards to… and certainly every individual who supported the Temple in any way.

Kuu/Deus Est Mortuus/Medumgiriz/2016 CD Review

jeudi 11 février 2016 à 07:59

Kuu  are  a  solo  project  from Los  Angeles,  California  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  bestial  form  of  black/death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2014  album  "Deus  Est  Mortuus"  which  was  re-issued  in  2016  by  Merdumgiriz.

Evil  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  demonic  vocals  a  few  seconds  later  and  after  the  intro  the  music  starts  going  for  more  of  a  raw  black/war  metal  direction  that  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  bestial  growls  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  style  of the  genre.

When  the  music  slows  down  it  brings  in  the  atmosphere  of  a  funeral  along  with  a  touch  of  doom/death  metal  and  the  music  also  has  a  very  ritualistic  and  minimalist  style  at  times  when  synths  are  used  in  the  background  of  the  heavier  parts  while  some  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  as  the  album  progresses  the  music  starts  incorporating  more  dark  ambient  elements  which  also  adds  in  more  of an  experimental  atmosphere  while  the music  also keeps  around  a  very  raw  style  of  black  metal.

Kuu  creates  an  album  that  has  a  very  raw  and  bestial  style  of  black/death  metal  but  also  has  a  different  approach  by  also  taking  the  genre  into  more  of  an  experimental,  ritualistic  and  dark  ambient  direction  in  some  songs  which  also  makes  the  music  more  original as  well  as  standing  out  a  bit  more,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism, Evil  and  Hatred  themes.

In  my opinion  Kuu  are  a  very  great  sounding  ritualistic  mixture  of  bestial  black/death  metal  and  dark  ambient  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Deus  Est  Mortuus"  "A  Rebirth  Of  Evil"  and  "Temple  Of  the  Goat".  8  out  of  10.

Cantique Lépreux/Cendres/Eisenwald/2016 Full Length Review

jeudi 11 février 2016 à 00:29

Cantique  Lepraux  are  a  band  from  Quebec,  Canada  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  atmospheric  form  of  occult  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Cedres  Celestes"  which  will  be released  by  Eisenwald  in  March.

A very  dark,  distorted  and  droning  sound  starts  off  the  album  and  after  a  few  minutes  the  album  goes  into  its  first  track  bringing  in  a  very  raw  black  metal  sound  that  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  as  well  as  some  grim  screams  making  there  presence  known  on  the  recording  a  few  seconds  later.

Most  of  the  fast  parts  are  rooted  in  the  90's  second  wave  style  of  black  metal  and  when  the  music  slows  down  it  brings  in  melodic  guitar  leads  that  are  more  related  to  the  modern style  of  atmospheric  black  metal  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.

Some  of  the  screams  have  a  depressive  tone  to  them and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  they  also  bring  in  a  track  that  is  very  and  fast  while also  adding  more  atmosphere  to  the  recording  and  one  song  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  acoustic  guitars  before  making  a  return  back  to  a  more  heavier  and  raw  style  of  black  metal  and  they  also  bring  back  the  acoustic  guitars  for  the  closing  of  the  album.

Cantique  Lepraux  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  can  be  very  raw  at  times  while  also  being  atmospheric  at the  same  time  in  more  of  a  guitar  driven  style,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  French  and  cover  the  occult,  death  and  fear.

In  my  opinion  Cantique  Lepraux  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  atmospheric  occult  black metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Le  froid  lepreux"  "Tourments  des  limbes  glacials"  and  "Le  mangeur  d'  oss".  8  out  of  10.
