X PUS Interview

mardi 15 décembre 2015 à 18:10

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

OURS IS A BAND DEVOTED TO PURE AND TRUE EXTREME SOUND, WE TRY TO MIX UP THE GENRES WE'VE LOVED MOST: DEATH,BLACK AND WAR METAL...I OBVIOUSLY MEAN
"OLD SCHOOL MENTALITY". HUGE SOUNDS, CLEAN VOCALS AND ALL SORTS OF BULLSHIT THAT HAVE POLLUTED A MUSIC ONLY INTENDED FOR FEW PEOPLE WON'T FIND ANY SPACE
IN OUR SONGS. ONLY DARKNESS AND BLAPHEMY.

2.So far you have released a promo and a full length album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

PRIMAEVAL, RAW, BLACK AND BLASPHEMOUS. IN A FEW WORDS:"DEATH SMELLING BLACK METAL SOUND"!

3.Your lyrics cover some satanic, anti christian and occult topics, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in those topics?

YEAH, OUR LYRICS VARY FROM A "PERSONAL" POINT OF VIEW ABOUT SATANISM TO ITS MORE CLASSIC AS IT IS IN "LEFT-HAND PATH", FOR EXAMPLE. THE SAME GOES FOR THE
ANTICHRISTIAN LYRICS: IN THIS CASE AS WELL, THEY CAN FOCUS UPON CRITICISM AROUSING FROM PERSONAL IDEAS OR, SIMPLY, HISTORICAL ISSUES. VERY
LITTLE STUDYING IS NEEDED TO GET HOW AWFUL CHRISTENDOM IS. BESIDES THESE LINES, I FREQUENTLY WRITE ABOUT DEATH, MINE IN PARTICULAR, WHICH IS AN ISSUE
THAT I FEEL MUCH CLOSE TO.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'X PUS'?

"X" MEANS "UNKNOW" WHILE "PUS" MEANS "INFECTION".
UNKNOW INFECTION = CHRISTIANITY,
DESPITE BEING THE WORST CANCER AND AFTER ALL THE CRIME COMMITTED (IN THE PAST AND PRESENT),
FOR MOST PEOPLE, EVEN TODAY IN 2015/2016 IT IS A POSITIVE THING; IS THE "PATH",
SO HERE'S WHY: XPUS = UNKNOW INFECTION = CHRISTIANITY.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

BEING OURSELVES A CLOSELY NEWBORN BAND, OUR ATTENTION AND TIME AS WELL HAVE BEEN FOCUSED UPON THE COMPOSITION OF THE DEBUT ALBUM AND WE'VE HAD VERY
FEW GIGS. OF COURSE WE'LL BE CONCENTRATING OUR NEXT EFFORTS ON THAT, WE''RE JUST PLANNING OUR NEXT MOVES...AND IF THINGS GO IN THE RIGHT WAY WE'LL
HAVE SOME GREAT FUN!

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

WE'RE PLANNING BOTH THINGS.

7.Most of the band members have a history that goes back to the 90's, do you feel extreme metal has changed quite a bit since the second wave era?

ABSOLUTELY THINGS WORSENED. YOU SEE, I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO EXTREME METAL SINCE I WAS 15 AND AT THAT TIME THEY POINTED AT YOU AS A FOOL, MUSICALLY
INCOMPETENT. ONE YOU SHOULD HAVE BETTER AVOIDED TALKING TO. AND ALL BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT BLACK AND DEATH METAL STOOD UP WITH THEIR WELL-DISTINCT
PERSONALITY, THEY SMELT OF DEATH AND WERE SELECTIVE GENRES. THEN THE "MASSES" PUT THEIR FILTHY HANDS ON 'EM, AND TURNED 'EM INTO FREAK-LIKE STUFF
FILLED WITH ALL SORTS OF BULLSHIT! WE'RE GLAD THAT PART OF THE UNDERGROUND MOVEMENT HAS BEEN CLEANSING ITSELF THROUGH THESE LAST FEW YEARS,
WAR METAL TODAY GATHERS AND EXPRESSES BLACK & DEATH METAL HERITAGE. HOPE IT LASTS.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of war, black and death metal?

TOO EARLY TO STATE THAT, WE'VE HAD SOME FEEDBACKS, ALL OF THEM WERE GOOD BUT WE STILL CANNOT MAKE STATISTICS OUT OF IT."SANCTUS DOMINUS DEUS SABAOTH"
HAS JUST BEEN RELEASED IN ITALY, RUSSIA AND JAPAN UP TIL NOW.IN THE U.S., IN EUROPE AND IN THE REST OF THE WORLD IT WILL BE AVAILABLE VERY SOON.
WE MAKE MUSIC WITH OUR SOULS AND GUTS, I THINK THAT THOUSE WHO'VE GOT TO UNDERSTAND WILL UNDERSTAND. FUCK THE REST.

9.Are any of the band members involved with any other bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening
to nowadays?

ALL THAT HAS TO DO WITH TRUE THRASH, DEATH, BLACK AND WAR METAL HAS INFLUENCED ME AND STILL DOES. NO, NO OTHER GENRE, I AM NOT
INTERESTED IN OTHER MUSICAL GENRES. 7 ALBUM OUT OF 10 WERE RELEASED IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE '90S. OF COURSE I APPRECIATE AND FAN YOUNGER BANDS LIKE:
ARCHGOAT, BLACK WITCHERY, MORBOSIDAD, GRAVE DESECRATOR, VON, PSEUDOGOD, INQUISITION, MGLA ETC...

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

OUR GOAL IS TO PLAY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, BOTH LIVE AND IN THE STUDIO. I'VE ALREADY FINISHED THE ARTWORK FOR THE SECON AND THE THIRD CD AND WE'VE WRITTEN
OVER THE HALF OF OUR SECOND ALBUM. I DON'T KNOW WHERE WE'RE HEADING TO, MY FEET ARE ROOTED IN THE GROUND AND I ONLY LIVE IN THE PRESENT. WE'LL FOLLOW
THE PATH WE TRACED WITH OUR FIRST WORK.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

AS I SAID BEFORE, ALL THOSE BANDS CAPABLE OF CREATING TRUE THRASH, DEATH, BLACK AND WAR METAL.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

TO ALL THE TRUE FANS OF TRUE EXTREME METAL I SAY "GIVE US A CHANCE, I'M SURE YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
TO ALL THE OTHERS, AS I ALWAYS SAY, WE DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU.
THANKS TO YOU FOR THIS INTERVIEW, HORNS UP.

SEE YOU IN HELL!

Ad Noctem Funeriis Interview

mardi 15 décembre 2015 à 09:26
1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?
1. We have played live the entire new album in half Italy,on a mini tour in Croatia with
our old friends DewFall and we have released many radio interviews.

2.In May you had released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that was presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
2. the new album was composed by the new lineup, this mean a grow up of the band in
songwriting phases because now we are three "heads2 and not only one (Moloch).
In the past we tended to compositions purely raw, songs composed and played in 5 minutes
only by the instinct, today we work more on the riffs, paying more attention to the
harmonies and the guitar phrasings, and also to the impact of the songs in the live acts.

3.This is the first album to be released since 2009, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on the last 6 years?
3. well, from the 2010 to 2013 we were in three,me,Hellhound (voice) and Carondimonio (bass)
In our country musicians with attitude and dedication for the genre are very rare. This is the
reason because only in the 2013 we are reached a stable lineup, bringing our verb only live until
2015,and the result is "Satan's march black Metal".

4.Your lyrics cover a lot of Occult, Satanic and Anti Christian topics, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?
4. we prefer not to disclose specific details about our cult but you can easily understand who
we worship.

5.I know that the band name means 'To The Night Of The Funeral' in Latin, how does this name fit in with the musical style that you play?
5. Death is our constant friend,a presence that accompanies us in many choices,in every
composition, and the our is a slow and fast approach to Her..Life is a small part of our
existence and the the funeral indicates the accord with a new form of our being.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
6. Unforgettable the "Howling at the Moon" festival (Apiro,Marche 2015),a festival dedicated only
to the best underground Black Metal band situated in an old fortress in a wood. The honour to
sharing the stage with band like Handful of Hate,Taake,Negura Bunget,Stormlord and more and in
particular the show in Zapresic at the legendary Bomber Bar!Our live performances are ever full
mysticism, profanity, sound violence, more fast than the cd.When we are on the stage you can see
our real souls.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
7. Yes.We have many project for the future, follow us on our FB page, you can read news every day.

8.Your music is very traditional for black metal, what are your thoughts on the younger generation taking the genre into a different style that has nothing to do with the original meaning of the music?
8. Black Metal is not only a word. It's a particular kind of music characterized by schemes do not
break. The new generations should focus more on the feeling and the attitude than the musical
technique.Try to imagine Black Metal like a horror/splatter movie.Without blood and dead people
is not a horror/splatter movie! If you don't transmit certain sensations is not Black Metal.

9.On a world wide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
9. We are proud to be appreciated by all true black metaller's that know us,east and nord Europe,
France (we made a tape version of "...Of Evil and Torment" by a french label)in south America
(our logo was designed by a Mexican fan)

10.What is going on with some of the other musical projects or bands these days that some of the band members are a part of?
10. Our drummer Eversor and our guitarist Tyrannos play in a very raw Black Metal trio called
Souzern. The singer Hellhound and the bassist Carondimonio play in their Hexentomb.I officially
play only in Ad Noctem Funeriis.

11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
11. We will not come never to less our intentions, never compromises and NEVER PAY TO PLAY.
I see our future like the present, always on the road, always drunks, always on the stage.

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
12 the 90' Black Metal bands,Burzum,Marduk,Satanic Warmaster,Dark Throne,Mayhem,Immortal are our
principal constant listening from ever, but we always try to personalize our songs.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
13. Thanks for your interest and support to us and the underground.Keep the Black Flame alive!
Few words in our mother language...NGUL A CRIST!HAIL SATAN!

Istidraj/Muerte Mundi Militia/Iron County Records/2015 Cassette Review

mardi 15 décembre 2015 à 03:41

Istidraj  are  a  band  from  Singapore  that  has  had  an  album  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  and  satanic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Muerte Mundi Militia"  which  was  released  on  cassette  by  Iron  Country  Records.

A  very  dark  and  evil  sounding  synth  starts  off  the  album  bringing  in  a  very  epic  atmosphere  and  a  few  seconds  later  drum  beats  and  spoken  word  parts  are  added  onto  the  recording  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction  which  also  introduces  grim  black  metal  screams  into t he  songs  and  some  of  the  riffs  also  bring  in  melodies  at  times.

All  of  the musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to t hem  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  it  goes  for  more  of  a  raw  black  metal  style  that  also  utilizes a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  the  songs also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

Some  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  laying and  the  solos  and  leads  the  band  uses  are  very  dark  and  melodic sound  while  some  of  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  touch  of  thrash  and  as  the  album  progresses  spoken  word  parts also  make  a  return  briefly  on  a  couple  of  the  songs  while  a  couple  of  later  tracks  also  bring  in  a  few  seconds  of  ritualistic  sound  effects  an  they  close  the  album  with  a  remix  track  that  brings  elements  of  electronic  music  to  the  bands  musical  style.

Istidraj  creates  more  of  a  straightforward  approach  to  black  metal  on  this  recording  slowing  down  the  music  a  bit  while  still  being  true  to  the  genre  while  also showing  a  great  amount  of  progress  and  skills  as  musicians,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism  and  Anti  Christian  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Istidraj  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  cassette.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Lux  Noir"  "The  Destroyer  Of  Life"  "Illuminating  Darkness"  and  "Earth's  Crematoria".  8  out  of  10.

Moonreich Interview

mardi 15 décembre 2015 à 02:16
1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?
We've been preparing for the live shows with the new line-up. Everything is going well, last two gigs were awesome.

2.Recently you have released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
The goals is still the same: making the music we like without concession. I would say that is album is definitely more varied and more personal, as we gain experience !

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?
With “Pillars of Detest”, lyrics are very very metaphorical. Every one can make his own mind.
Even for me, the interpretation of it isn't really accurate. I like pushing people to think about it and make their own interpretation. That's what I like when it comes to art. Previous albums and Eps were conceptual's, Pillars of Detest is not.

4.On some of your older material you had covered Rennes le Chateau and its secrets, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in this topic and also do you also have an interest in any other esoteric subjects?
The big word about Rennes le Chateau would be “Mystery”. There would be a treasure there that could shake the monotheist beliefs. I like this idea. Vatican offered a lot of money to Saunière for hidding this secret. Today, no one knows what it is all about.
I have interest for a lot of other esoteric subjects, but I'll keep it for future releases.

5.Originally the band started out as a solo project, what was the decision behind forming a full line up?
I believe that Moonreich's music wouldn't make any sens if we couldn't develop it's energy in front of people. It is still the case, I like recording, I like listening to music at home. But the real power of music takes shape when it is played live to me. That's why I decided to form a complete line up. I don't have any regret, specially with the new members. New songs are souding great on stage.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
The last one we played in Tours was amazing, big energy there, pure agression ! You can always expect this at a Moonreich's gig !

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?
Yes, we are looking forward a french headlining tour right now. We will also be playing at Hellfest 2016 !

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your newer music by fans of black metal?
Well, this new album has been very well welcomed by medias and fans. We are really proud of it but don't pay attention too much, we make music for ourselves above all.

9.Are any of the band members also involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?
Yes, some of us are involved in others projects, our guitarist for exemple plays in a band called “Griffon”. Our drummer also plays in bands, but they never released anything.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

I don't really know, I will always compose music that pleases me according to my tastes in the instant.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
I listen to a lot a varied music. From rock to classical music,  some post-rock; some movie music. When it comes to music, I don't have any fronteer. This is very important to me, when it comes to composition. Every sort of music can inspire me !

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thanks for the support !

Black Cult Interview

mardi 15 décembre 2015 à 02:04
1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

We are working on our new album at the moment and it should be out in the beginning of 2016. I can already reveal to you the new album title. Our second album will be called "Cathedral of the Black Cult".

2.Last year you had released an album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented
on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff the band members have done with their previous or current bands or projects?

The musical sound would be best described as 90's black metal with modern production.
We wanted to present the old school black metal on which we've grown up with a modern sound. We want to keep that old spirit intact. True black metal how we fell it should sound nowadays. Some of our previous and present bands/projects differ more, some less. When it comes to Gorthaur's Wrath we can draw
a lot of parallels concerning the sound. This was the first band Insanus and me formed much earlier then Black Cult but since that time a lot of line up changes followed and with every new member came new and different ideas. So there are notable differences as well as similarities between those two bands.
There is Ashes you leave, our lead guitarist's main band, and we're talking some serious gothic doom here.
Again we can go back to the past with all five of the Black cult members and there you could again find some connections to the sounds or ideas but not completely the same as the Cult. Castrum, Unholy Inquisition, Hibernum, Svitogor,Mysterium, Czaar,Heathen mysticism, Nekrist and Kult Perunov. Here is the complete list for anyone interested in Croatian black metal and metal scene in general. This could be an interesting matter.

3.Your lyrics cover a lot of satanic topics, what is the type of Satanism that you bring out in the song lyrics
 on the album?

For us Satanism is a completely individual philosophy. There is truth in works of Aliester Crowley, A.Lavey and many others but it's up to each individual to stand for himself and find his own truth, seek his own path.
That is the ultimative answer for me in the end. We definitely stand against all forms of organized religion, especially coming from an extremely religious country ourselves. Therefore, there is always some mention of religion in our lyrics. Be it metaphorically or literally. We are the local Villains in the eyes of the masses and we're proud of it. Imagine the typical Hammer horror villain - that's us down here.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Black Cult'?

Well, like with the sound of the band, we wanted to make the same "message" with the name.
We don't want to be the next best thing out there, it's not about that for us. It never was and should never be like that for a real black metal band. Like it was in the early years - I think you know what I mean.
Just keep it underground, magical and for the selected few. There is one thing that we want to achive though, to keep the flame burning.Continue with the work and keep it active constantly, specially in these god forgotten lands where we live at the moment. We are the Standard bearers from the south. It's a pure black metal dedication, nothing more and nothing less.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

The best shows so far would be those we shared with our brothers from Sweden - "Stormdeath" - in our home town Rijeka. Just a few days after the new year celebration of 2015. You should definitely check them out. Our show on the local metal fest called "Dark-O fest" was also amazing. Then there was our first show as a band on the festival called "Udar Groma" and I think that some parts of it can still be found on Youtube.
That's when the magick happened, so that one was the most important for us.
Our stage performance is a ritual and a gathering. We prefer to do it on a selected location, on a predetermined time and for selected people. That's why we don't prefer touring.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

I already mentioned touring plans in the question above. As for future shows, there are no plans so far, as we are completely focused with the work on the new album. Although, we had plans concerning coming to Germany and Sweden and we will continue to work on the realization of those as soon as the album comes out.

7. On the album you had done a Burzum cover, what was the decision behind doing your own version of one of his songs?

The first time we talked and planned on doing cover songs we decided that if we are going do it, we are going to do only those
legendary bands that either don't play anymore or never had played live in the first place. The idea was to deliver this energy to the people that can't be experienced it anymore anywhere else or never could. This song is the best Burzum song for me and it contains the essence of the darknessof early scandinavian black metal. So the choice came like an inspiration to me. This is the song, so we did it.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?

It was very well recieved and all of the first 500 copies where sold out short upon it's release. Maybe some re-releases will follow, LP would be a very much appreciated relic among the cultists, of that we are sure.
Just the fact that three labels, two from USA and one from Russia, made co- release for "Neo-Satanism" (Satanath records, Metallic media and Black Plaque) speaks for itself. The underground black metal scene today is bigger than ever and that is a great fact.

9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

Most of them are on standstill as all of us focus primarily on Black Cult. Kult Perunov just released their first full length album, but others stay mostly quiet for the time being.

10.When can we expect another album and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Like I said already in the beginning of this interview, the work on the new album has already begun. The album will be finished and  unleashed upon the world sometime in early 2016.Everyone interested should follow the updates on all of our official webpages.www.blackcult.info would be the main one.
The new material will be more aggressive, darker and one step ahead of what we've done so far. That's all I can say for now.

11.What are some of the musical influences that your bring into the music of 'Black Cult'?

Mostly it's black metal, but there are other metal subgenre influences and other musical influences as well.
Inside the band we listen to all forms of metal and music in general, so don't be surprised if we bring some other influences along the way, every now and then. As long as they are dark. We keep ourselves within no boundaries when it comes to our sound and our music.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you for these interesting questions and your time.
We don't get so many interview offers so we dedicate time for each interview and make it personal.
Hope to stay in touch and Keep the flames burning!
