Finland's  Mustan  Kuun  Lapset  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  dark and  black  metal  mixture  of  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "Valo"  which  will  be  released  on  March  8th  by  Inverse  Records.

  Kantale's  start  off  the  album  giving  the  music  more  of  a  Finnish  folk  music  feeling  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  slower  riffing  shows  an  influence  of  doom  metal  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  vocals  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.  A  great  amount  of  melody  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  music  adding  in  some  atmospheric  sounding  keyboards  and  violins  at  times.

  Acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  a  couple  of  songs  as  the  album  progresses  along  with  one  track  also  introducing  a  brief  use  of  female  vocals  onto  the  recording.  Some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  the  music  sticking  to  mostly  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  style  while  a  couple  of  songs  shows  the  music  speeding  up  for  a  little  bit  and  also  introducing  blast  beats  onto  the  recording.

 The  album  also  closes  with  an  instrumental  while  they  also  bring  in  a  bonus  hidden  track  after  a  few  minutes  which  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  male  vocals  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Finnish  and  cover  poetic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Mustan  Kunn  lapset  which  shows  the  band  adding in  elements  of  Finnish  folk  music  to t heir  mixture  of  dark  and  black  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Eksyneet"  "Nostalgia"  and  "Valo".  8  out  of  10.         

  This  is  a  review  of  some  rehearsal  tracks  from  Brazil's  LeMarchand  which  are  also  done  in  a  very  raw  and  nationalist  style  of  black  metal  with  the  songs  being  recorded  between  2016  and  2018.

  Classical  guitars  and  clean  vocals  start  off  the  first  track  along  with  some  rain  and  thunder  sounds  being  utilized  in  the  background  and  after  a  few  minutes  the  music  goes  into  a  heavier  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams  while  the  faster  sections  of the  music  also use  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  With  these  tracks  LeMarchand  brings  in  more  of  a  raw,  epic  and  nationalist  style  of  black  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Portuguese  and  cover  nationalism  and  negativity  themes.

  In  my  opinion  these  are  some  great  sounding  tracks  from  lMarchand  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw,  epic  and  nationalist  black  metal,  you  should  enjoy  the  next  release  that  is  released  to  the  public.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  " Qvantvm  Vacvvm".  8  out  of  10.    

  This  is  a  review  of  some  rough  tracks  from  Brazil's  LeMarchand  that  where  recorded  between  2017  and  2018  and  while  these  tracks  where  not  released  to  the  public  they  show  where  there  music  has  been  heading  sent  the  last  official  release  in  2015  and  on  these  songs  they  go  fro  more  of  a  raw  and  nationalist  style  of  black  metal.

  Nature  sounds,  field  recordings  and  spoken  word  parts  start  off  the  first  track  before  introducing  some  synths  into  the  music.  Clean  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  once  the  music  gets  very  heavy  a  brief  use  of  growling  vocals  can  also  be  heard.

  After  awhile  the  vocals  start  adding  in  some  grim  black  metal  screams  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  music  also  wetting  very  epic  and  militant  sounding  at  times.

  Elements  of  classical  music  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  some  of  the  mid  tempo  riffing  shows  some  influences  of  punk  and  oi  along  with  some  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats being  utilized  when  the  music  speeds  up  and  they  give  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling,  melodic  guitar  leads  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  A    couple  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  throughout  the  recording  while  the  last  track  shows  the  music  going  into  more  of a  ritualistic  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  Portuguese  and  English  and  cover  Paganism,  Satanism  and  Nationalism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  these  are  some  very  great  sounding  tracks  from  LeMarchand  which  shows  a  great  amount  of  progress  from  the  previous  material  that  was  reviewed  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw,  satanic,  pagan  or  nationalist  black  metal,  you  should  enjoy  their  newer  material  once  it  is  released  to  the  public.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "We  Are  Pagans"  and  " Oi Iberia".  8  out  of  10.         

  Lord  Imperium  are  a  solo  project  from  Brazil  that  plays  a  very  raw form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2018  demo.

  A  very  powerful  bass  guitar  sound  starts  off  the  demo  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later  while  growls  are  also  used  briefly.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Synths  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  music  along  with  a  some  of  spoken  word  parts  also  being  added  onto  some tracks.  One  of  the  tracks  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Bass  guitars  take  the  place of  a  lead  instrument  on  the  recording  with  no  regular  guitars  ever  being  utilized  along  with  the  music  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  lo-fi  sounding  which  suites  this  style  of  black  metal  very  well  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Portuguese  and  cover  occultism  and  darkness  themes.

   In  my  opinion  Lord  Imperium  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Invoco  o  Seu  Seer"  and  "Nosso  Reino".  8  out  of  10. 

  

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Brazil's  Furor  Volturno  and  LeMarchand  called  "Falanges  Paulistas"  which  was  released  in  2015  by  Treze  Listras  Rex  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Furor  Volturno  a  band  that  plays  a  very  raw  form of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast and  raw  sound  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams.  Some  of  the  mid  tempo  riffing  also  shows  an  influence  of  hardcore  punk  and  oi.

  Most  of  their  musical  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  style while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.

  Clean  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  one  track  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  WWII  era  music  samples  as  well  as  a  couple  of  their  songs  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  melodic  guitar  leads  can  also  be  heard  on  their  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Portuguese  and  cover  Nationalism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Furor  Volturno  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  black  metal  band  with  some  elements  of  punk  and  oi  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "1932"  and  "A  Morte  da Civilização  aos  Mestres  do  Planeta  Parte  II".

  Next  up  is  LeMarchand  who  return  with  their  raw  style  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  sounding  intro  which  also  introduces  acoustic  guitars,  epic  sounding  synths  and  war  samples  onto  their  side  of  the  recording  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  direction.  Clean  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  RAC  elements  also  being  utilized  at  times.

  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  a  couple  of  songs  while  the  guitar  leads  when  they  ar e finally utilized  gives  the  music more  of  an  old  school  metal  feeling  as  well as  synths  also  making  a  brief  return  as  their  side  of  the  split  progresses.  The  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  lo-fi  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Portuguese  and  cover  Sao  Paulo  Nationalism  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  LeMarchand  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  nationalist  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Morte  aos  Tenentistas"  and  " M.M.D.C.  Jamais Esqueceremos".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  raw  and  nationalist  orientated  black  metal.  8 out  of  10.
