Disharmonic/Magiche Arti e Oscuri Deliri/Beyond Productions/2015 CD Review

dimanche 18 janvier 2015 à 05:05

Disharmonic  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  occult  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Magiche  Arti  e  Oscuri  Deliri"  which  was  released  by  Beyond  Productions.

A  very  dark  and  evil  avant  garde  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  ritualistic  spoken  word  parts  and  after  the  intro  drums  and  melodic  guitar  leads  are  added  onto  the  recording  which  slowly  leads  up  to  more  of  a  doom  metal  sound  along  with  some  synths  and  grim  black  metal  vocals  which  also  bring  in  clean  singing  at  times.

Demonic  whispers  can  be  heard  briefly  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  the  guitar  riffing  can  be  very  melodic  at  times  and  a  few  of  the  tracks  are  long  an d epic  in  length  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  all  of  the  songs  remain  true  to  a  very  slow,  dark,  heavy  and  melodic  musical  direction  and  the  ritualistic  spoken  word  parts  also  make  a  return  on  a  few  of  the  later  tracks.

With  this  album  Disharmonic  continues  to  expand  on  the  occult  black/doom  metal  sound  of  their  previous  recording  and  creates  a  recording  that  is  very  dark,  heavy,  avant  garde  and  ritualistic  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Latin  and  cover  Occultism,  Evil,  Spirits,  Witches  and  Hell  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Disharmonic  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  ritualistic  and  occult  black/doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Cose  Buie"  "Litania  Della  Porta  Ermetica"  "Ippomanzia"  and  "L' uomo  Che  Si  Veste  Di  Bruma".  8  out  of  10.

Sigihl  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  plays  a  mixture  of  depressive  black  metal,  sludge,  doom  and  drone  and this  is  a  review of  their  2014  album  "Traurmarsche (And A Tango Upon The Worlds Grave)"  which  was  released  by  Arachnophobia  Records.

a  very  distorted  drone  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  saxophones  and  elements  of  noise  which  leads  up  to  a  slow  and  heavy sludge/doom  metal  direction  along  with  some  depressive  black  metal  screams  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  all  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

Most  of  the  music  sticks  to  a  very  slow,  dark  and  heavy  musical  direction  with  no  fast  parts  ever  being  utilized  while  also  bringing  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  at  times  and  on  a  cople  of  the  tracks  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  the  saxophones  also  give  the  music  more  of  an  experimental  and  avant  garde  feeling

Sigihil  plays  a  very  slow,  dark  and  heavy  style  of  drone  doom/sludge  that  uses  a  saxophone  as  a  lead  instrument  along  with  some  screams  that  are  in  more  of  depressive  and  suicidal  black  metal  direction,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the lyrics  cover  dark  and  anti  religion  themes.

In  my  opinion  Sigihil  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  drone,  doom,  sludge  and  depressive  black  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Daymare"  and  "Christ-  Off  Waltz".  8  out  of  10.

Spoken  word  parts  start  off  the  album  before going  into  a  very  fast,  brutal  and  raw  black  metal  direction  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  high  pitched  screams  which  also  get  more  grim  and  angry  after  a  few  seconds  and  you  can  also  hear  some  dark  sounding  melodies  in  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

Deep  death  metal  growls  can  be  heard  at  times  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while  some  parts  also  bring  in  a  few  seconds  of  clean  singing  on  a  few  tracks  and  all  4  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  add  more  of  a  melodic  side  to  the  bands  musical  style  while  one  of  the  later  tracks  also  adds  in  some  atmospheric  elements  along  with  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  while  the  main  focus  remains  more  on  a  raw  and  heavy  style  of  black  metal.

Eerie  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  heavy  and  raw  while  also  very  epic  at  a  same  time  along  with  a  touch  of  melody  and  a  slight  death  metal  influence,  the  production  sound s very  dark,  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  themes.

In  my  opinion  Eerie  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  nihilistic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Mining  Out  Of  Black  Earth"  and  "Among  The  Ashes".  8  out  of  10.

Earth And Pillars/Earth I/Avantgarde Music/2014 CD Review

samedi 17 janvier 2015 à 02:21

Earth  And  Pillars  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and  Cascadian  influenced  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Earth  I"  which  was  released  by  Avantgarde  Music.

A  nature  orientated  ambient  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  drones  and  dark  soundscapes  and  after  a  few  minutes  acoustic  guitars  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  on  the  second  track  the  music  starts  adding  in  more  of  a  fast  and  raw  black  metal  sound  while  also  still  being  very  melodic  and  keeping  the  atmospheric  elements  of  the  intro.

Most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  when  vocals  are  added  into  the  music  they  are  grim  black  metal  screams  that  are  somewhat  overpowered  by  the  guitars  and  the  music  also  incorporates  a  great  amount  of  programmed  blast  beats  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of   acoustic,  ambient  and  heavy  parts  which  is  also  the  main  focus  of  most  of  the  songs  and  when  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  in  a  very  raw  and  melodic  musical  direction..

Earth  And  Pillars  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  epic,  atmospheric,  raw  and  melodic  and  also  brings  in  influences  from  the  Cascadian  bands  of  Northern  California,  Oregon,  and  Washington  to  create  more  of  an  European  take  on  the  genre,  the  production  sound s very  dark  and r aw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Nature  and  Spirituality  themes.

In  my  opinion  Earth  And  Pillars  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw,  melodic  and  atmospheric  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Rivers"  and  "Tides".  8  out  of  10.
