This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Russia's  solo  project  Astarium  which  shows  the  music  returning  back  to  a  symphonic  style  of  black  metal  and  the  album  is  called  "Fragments  Of  Nightmares" and  was  released  in  2019  by  NitroAtmosfericum  Records.

A  very  dark  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  also  introducing  synths  and  programmed  beats  onto  the  recording. Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  music  also  mixing  the  symphonic  and  heavy  parts  together  as  well  as  the  vocals  being  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  All  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  short  in  length  while  the  music  also  adds  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  A  great  amount  of  melody  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  A  lot  of  the  music  also  goes  back  to  the  mid  90's  era  of  symphonic  black  metal  capturing  an  early  Cradle  Of  Filth  meets  Bal  Sagoth  vibe  as  well  as  still  retaining  an  original  style.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Darkness  and  occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Astarium  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  symphonic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Nocturnalism"  'King  In  Yellow"  "Hell's  Order"  and  "Blind  Beholder".  8  out  of  10.  

  Russia's  solo  project  Astarium  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  Lovecraft  themes  symphonic  black  metal  style  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2018  single  "Mesmerizing  Tentacles".

  A  very  powerful  bass  guitar  sound  starts  off  the  single  before  going  into  more  of  a  raw,  avant  garde  and  symphonic  direction  which  also  introduces  grim  black  metal  screams  and  guttural  yet  demonic  vocals  into  the  recording.  The  song  is  also  divided  into  4  different  chapters  along  with  some  elements  of  noise.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  song  also  brings  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  part.  Tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  during  the  faster  sections  of  the  music  as  well  as  some  melody  being  added  into  the  guitar  riffing.  The  production  while  the  lyrics  are  based  upon  the  writings  of  H.P  Lovecraft.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Astarium  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  symphonic  and  experimental  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  single.  8  out  of  10. 

  

  Vorga  are  a  band  based  in  Germany  that  plays  a  melodic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2019  ep  "Radianty  Gloom"  which  will  be  released  on  February  20th.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later.  A  great  amount  of  melody  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  which  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  guitar  leads  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well as  giving  the  music  more  of  a  modern  black  metal  style  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  the  closing  track.

  Vorga  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  melodic  in  the  Swedish  style  of  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Vorga  are  a  very  great  sounding  melodic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Black  Age"  and  "Divine".  8  out  of  10. 

  France's  solo  project  Pensees  Nocturnes  are  a  solo  project  from  France  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  avant  garde  black  metal  and  neo-classical  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2019  album  "Grand  Guignol  Orchestra"  which  was  released  by  Les  Acteurs  de  L'Ombre  Productions.

  Avant  garde  style  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  brass  instruments  being  added  into  the  music  a  few  seconds  later  as  well.  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  they  also  mix  circus  music  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  music  as  well  as  the  vocals  also  adding  in  depressive  black  metal  screams.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  music  also  mixes  in  some  piano's, accordions,  and  theremin's.

  Melodic  guitars  leads  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording  along  with  some  clean  avant  garde  style  vocals  also  being  utilized  at  times.  Death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  some  of  the  tracks  being  long  and  epic  in  length  and  as  the  album  progresses  spoken  word  parts  also  make  a return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  French  and  cover  nihilism,  solitude  and  nature  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Pensees  Nocturnes  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  avant  garde  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Deux  bals  dans  la  tete"  "Les  valseuses"  and  "Triste  sade".  8  out  of  10.   

  Ultio  are  a  solo  project  from  an unknown area  that  plays  an  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  ep  "Fera"  which  will  be  released  in  march  by  Brucia  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  vocal  are  mostly  inhuman  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  also  has  a  lot  of  Nordic  influences.

  A  great  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  era  and  the  music  always  sticks  to  a  very  raw  and  heavy  musical  direction.

  Ultio  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  goes back  to  the  90's era  of  Swedish  and  Norwegian  black  metal  taking  the  melody  of  the  former  an  the  rawness  of  the  later  to  create  a  sound  of  his  own,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  evil  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Ultio  are  a  very  great  sounding  Nordic  influenced black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Beasts"  and  "The  Right  Weapon'.    out  of  10.
